The General Trading Company is credited as having opened the first wedding list service back in 1920 when the shop was first established.
For over eighty years we have been perfecting our wedding list service and we aim to provide a personal and friendly experience backed up by the latest technology. Located in the luxurious surroundings of GTC’s Sloane Square shop, it combines the very best face-to-face service with the speed and convenience of its on-line facilities.
But perhaps most important is The General Trading Company’s reputation for sourcing the finest products from around the world, offering couples an unrivalled selection of glass and chinaware, contemporary and traditional furniture, oriental and African artefacts and kitchenware.
Our Service
With all the other things you will be thinking about in the approach to your wedding we hope that we will be able to take away at least one worry.
- one of our experienced consultants will be on hand to help you with every aspect of setting up your list and answering any queries you may have, as well as monitoring the list’s progress right through to the final stages
- we can supply you with discreet cards that can be sent with your invitations to inform your guests that we are holding your list
- once your list is confirmed it will be available for your guests to buy from on our website, over the telephone or in person in London.
- copies of your list will be sent on request by post, fax or email and we will assist your guests in every aspect of choosing a gift
- we will keep you regularly informed of purchases from your list with a weekly update by email or post including gift givers names and addresses and any messages they have for you. In addition you will be able to view this information at any time through the website
- as our gift to you, if by the date of your wedding the value of items bought from your list totals £1,500 or more we will give you a Gift Voucher to spend on any items in the shop for 10% of the value of purchased gifts
- in order for you to have the flexibility to alter items on your list, we will only order the goods when you have confirmed your final list on return from honeymoon
- once goods start arriving in our warehouse we will inform you and you will then be able to arrange delivery or collection of your gifts at a time to suit you. Within central London delivery is free of charge during working hours Monday to Friday. We also offer a full export service
- finally, as a useful service for your friends and family, your list will remain available for up to one year for those who wish to buy you a gift at a later date
