How do I find out more about the service and setting up a list?
We would be more than happy to answer any of your queries or concerns so please do not hesitate to contact one of our consultants by telephone, email or in person in the shop. Our opening hours are Monday to Saturday 10am to 7.00pm and Sunday 11.30am to 5.30pm.
If you decide to have your list with us, we would ask you to make an appointment to choose the items on your list thereby enabling us to help you through the process. If you are unable to come in during our shop hours please let us know and we will arrange an evening appointment for you.
We would suggest that you take some time before your appointment to have a look around the shop and begin to formulate some ideas about what you might like. A gift checklist is available but contains suggestions only so please do not feel bound by them.
What items can I put on my list?
The GTC Wedding List carries an exhaustive selection of gifts and decorative accessories for the home from traditional to contemporary and our china and glass department offers a wide range of brand names and is happy to order any more unusual styles you may prefer. One off items, including antiques and hand-produced products, can also normally be included on your list. In addition, Gift Vouchers to any value can be put on your list.
Is there a charge for the service you provide?
There is absolutely no charge for the service. Furthermore, as our gift to you, if by the date of your wedding the value of items bought from your list totals £1,500 or more we will give you a GTC Gift Voucher for 10% of the value of all gifts.
For example, if the value of items bought from your list is £4,000, you will receive a voucher for £400.
How will our guests know where are list is being held?
We will provide you with small cards that can be sent with your invitations informing your guests that your list is with us and giving our contact details.
Your list will be on our website and we can fax, post or email a copy to your guests. Our sales consultants are also available to talk through the list with your guests should they wish.
How do my guests buy presents?
Our system ensures that it is as easy and convenient as possible for your guests to buy presents. Your family and friends can purchase through our website or by telephone or fax. They may also come in person to The General Trading Company. Payment can be made by credit or debit card, cheque or cash.
In addition, we will be pleased to include a personal message to you from your guests, or they may enclose their own cards.
Can I change presents that have been bought for me?
Yes. We will send you a full list of all the presents bought for you when you return from your honeymoon. Once you have had a look through, you are free to change things as you please. Some items, however, such as one-offs, special orders and antiques are non-changeable but we will discuss this with you when you make your original selection.
Do you gift wrap?
The presents are not individually wrapped but packed securely for their journey.
How much do you charge for delivery?
Delivery within our central London delivery area is free of charge during working hours Monday to Friday. All other deliveries, including our full export service, will be charged at cost.
What happens if the product I want is discontinued?
If the particular present you want is no longer available we will either try to find you a similar alternative or offer you gift vouchers to be used for something else.

How can I make a purchase?
You can purchase your gifts online from our website, by fax or telephone or in person at our shop.

Will I receive confirmation of my order?
If you place an order on our website you will receive confirmation and your receipt by email. Receipts from telephone and fax orders can be emailed or posted as required.
What credit cards do you accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Switch-Maestro, Solo and Electron but regret we cannot accept Diners. Guests may also pay by cheque and we will accept cash for in-shop orders only.
Is it safe to use my credit card online?
Yes, we use the highest security measures available on the internet. If you prefer you may place your order by telephone on 020 7970 5737 during opening hours.
How long will it take to process my order?
Your order will be processed within one working day. When a gift is purchased the list is immediately updated, so there is no chance of sending a duplicate gift.
When will my order be delivered?
The couple will receive a gift card notifying them of your purchase. Delivery of your gift will be arranged with them after the wedding.
